This is a song about that day in November – Divi Day- when the local people of Aberdeen had to queue in the Gallowgate to get their money from The Northern Cooperative Society which paid out an annual small sum to their members, a Divi – short for Dividend – so that mothers and fathers could use it to buy gloves, socks, scarves, etc. either for themselves or for their young kids.
